We are one operating arm of HZW Holdings Pty Ltd, a privately-owned company based in Western Australia. The HZW corporate structure is shown below:
The co-owners and Directors of HZW Holdings are Dr Andy Gabell, Helen Tuckett, and Wayne Hewison.
Andy and Helen were co-founders of Canadian Micro Gravity Ltd (“CMG”) with Dan Olson and Arkady Shabanov in 2003, and Wayne Hewison joined the company in 2004.
In 2012 CMG was re-structured and became a dedicated gravimeter sales company, while CMG Operations (now Transparent Earth Geophysics) was formed, with no common shareholding with CMG, to provide airborne and marine gravimetry technology and services.
Matt Gray, our Data Processing Manager has been working with us since 2006, Geoff Wells, Research Engineer, joined us in 2015, and Cassie Gabell joined our accounts department in 2016.
Collectively our staff have a wealth of experience and have been responsible for the acquisition of more than 1M line km of high quality airborne gravity data in 39 countries.
From its formation, TEG has devoted significant resources to a research and development program in pursuit of the next generation of gravimeter technology.
The most significant of these projects was a project funded by a CRC-P grant which commenced in September 2017 and finished in September 2019. Read more about the project here. The GTz® gravimeter was also one of the outcomes of this project.
Other project outcomes resulted in the formation of Astronav in 2019 to pursue development of space navigation and gravimetry technology in collaboration with Intuitive Machines LLC of Houston, TX. Intuitive Machines is one of the first 2 companies selected by NASA to take their science payloads to the lunar surface, and they are scheduled to launch in 2021.

WAYNEHEWISON
Director, Operations Manager
Wayne has a B Sc in Geophysics from Curtin University and more than 23 years experience in airborne geophysics, specialising in airborne gravimetry for the last 16 years. Wayne is a leading authority on the operation of GT systems and was the driving force behind the design and development of the GTz® gravimeter.
DRANDYGABELL
Director, R&D Manager
Andy has a B Sc (Hons I) and Ph D in Geology from the University of Adelaide and more than 40 years experience in remote sensing and geophysics. He was a post-doctoral research fellow at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory and shares 2 NASA achievement awards. Andy was then a senior manager at CSIRO before becoming the Chief Scientist and Product Development Manager at World Geoscience Corporation, then the global R&D Manager at Fugro Airborne Surveys in 2000. Andy was on the Board of Management of the CRC AMET (Australian Mineral Exploration Technologies) and oversaw development of the TEMPEST AEM system before leaving Fugro to co-found Canadian Micro Gravity, then Transparent Earth Geophysics and associated companies.
HELENTUCKETT
Director, Business Manager
Helen has 40 years of experience in geophysics, and has been a co-founder of a number of geophysical survey and service companies starting in 1983. Most of this time has been spent in processing geophysical data, and she was the Data Processing Manager for World Geoscience in Perth before leaving to co-found Canadian Micro Gravity. Helen has trained most of the people who use GT gravimeters, and is recognised as the leading authority of processing of data from these systems.
MATTGRAY
Data Processing Manager
Matt has a B Sc (Hons) in Geology/Geophysics from the University of Tasmania and has 20 years of experience working in geology and geophysics, with the past 14 years specialising in airborne gravimetry. He has been the Transparent Earth Geophysics Data Processing Manager since 2012.
GEOFFWELLS
R & D Engineer, Astronav Chief Technology Officer (CTO)
Geoff has a B Eng (Electronic Engineering) from Curtin University and an Australian private pilot’s licence. He has 33 years of experience in development of airborne geophysical survey equipment, including 15 years specialising in gravity and gravity gradiometry systems. This includes 10 years as the project/operations manager of Rio Tinto’s VK1 AGG project.
CASSIEGABELL
Administration and bookkeeping
Cassie has a B Sc majoring in Environmental Geoscience from UWA with experience in remote sensing, image processing, GIS and seismic data processing. She also has a Certificate in Bookkeeping and works both in support of our research and development program and administrative support of our commercial operations.
